Pros

  • Internationally renowned
  • Great customer service
  • Great ambiance
  • More than a decade of experience

Cons

  • Lack of seating /small dining area
  • Food can get pricey

Zuma Bangkok features an elegant yet informal dining experience and has been providing world-class Japanese cuisine for more than a decade now.

It is known to have excellent customer service and great food that people just keep on coming back to.

What we liked about Zuma is that it has branches all over the world and has always been commended to bring an authentic taste of Japanese dishes such as Tuna tartar, Grilled black cod, Nigiri sushi, and others.

Zuma is also commented consistently by their customers for having very accommodating services. The staff is well-trained and attentive to the customers’ needs and requests.

The ambiance of the restaurant is what also stands out. With a classic Japanese design in the interior, while the outdoor space is decorated with stoned walls and touches of Japanese design, it plays a big part in the customers’ experience.

In addition to this, the restaurant has been open since 2011, among other branches that opened as early as 2002.

What we were troubled about is that the place seems to lack tables which is why the wait times can get longer without reservations.

Another is that while the food served here is worth it, for the most part, it can get pricey. We found this especially true for the drinks and other dishes with special ingredients, depending on the portions.

Overall, the quality of the sushi and other dishes Zuma offers together with the entire experience that comes with it is definitely a must-try.

Pros

  • Great variety of sushi and sashimi platters
  • Fresh ingredients
  • Great customer service (Superb service
  • Simple yet enjoyable experience

Cons

  • Long waiting time
  • Some food is overpriced
  • Inconsistent quality of food

Known to have great quality ingredients and famous dishes, Sushi Mori has become the favorite of many locals — and with good reason!

From our observations, food prep is done seamlessly and with care at Sushi Mori. From the sourcing and handling of the fish, up until it reaches its customers, we like how its staff took care of everything.

Furthermore, we like that Sushi Mori provides a wide variety of sashimi and sushi dishes that have good portions for their price.

The quality ingredients also make up for its pricing since every ingredient used is prepared and done within the day. In particular, the sushi rice has been a favorite of many when paired with their favorite fish.

We also liked the fact that past customers have also commended the restaurant to have superb service towards them. The accommodating staff is able to provide and give clients a pleasant experience, especially when it comes to presenting the dishes.

The overall experience brought by this restaurant is simple yet still memorable — not only because of the food but also the ambiance as a whole.

Although the service is great for the most part, the waiting time for some dishes can get long, taking up to 15-20 minutes even.

Another downside is the pricing of their dishes. Many customers we surveyed thought that, while the food was great, some dishes are just overpriced and aren’t worth as much compared to the main dishes.

The sushi and sashimi rolls are our favorites, but some dishes weren’t handled consistently, like the tempura. For instance, some batches might end up oilier than others and some might have fewer portions.

3. Aroi Sushi Japanese Restaurant

Pros

  • Wide variety of sushi and sashimi dishes
  • Reasonable price
  • Friendly staff
  • Buffet or ala carte dining

Cons

  • Inconsistent quality of food
  • Limited parking space

Aroi Sushi is a well-known Japanese restaurant with an affordable sushi buffet customers can avail of.

It’s known for its reasonably priced food as well as the wide variety of sushi and sashimi dishes that are more than enough to get you full.

Aroi Sushi’s buffet and ala carte choices are so plenty that some customers aren’t able to try every single one!

We liked that the restaurant focused on providing as many dishes as possible for their customers to get the most for what they’re paying for.

We also liked that even though there are several dishes and platters customers can choose from, the pricing is still reasonable for what you get.

Another thing we found commendable was the staff who is able to accommodate inquiries and any problems customers may have. The food is also tended to, with replacements flowing as soon as the food gets taken away.

While this place is known for its buffet, it also serves ala carte dishes, such as fried, sushi, grilled seafood, sashimi salmon bowls, and many more.

One problem some customers do have is that the quality of the food can sometimes differ. We think this may be because the food is put out in bulk compared to restaurants that prepare the food only once an order comes in.

Another thing to note is the parking space of Aroi sushi – or the lack thereof. Customers had a hard time parking and getting spots since the location of the restaurant is rather crowded.

4. Akira Back

Pros

  • High-quality food
  • Wide variety of dishes
  • Friendly and accommodating staff
  • Well-known restaurant

Cons

  • Poorly kept place
  • Food can take time before arriving

Asian food is the main specialty of award-winning chef Akira Back, who was raised in America but was born in Korea. The restaurant offers a variety of Korean, Japanese, and American meals at his restaurant within the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Bangkok.

From our research, the food of Akira Back comes highly recommended when it comes to having a classy or informal dining experience. So, we set out to try it out for ourselves!

The food here is second to none, having great quality and fresh ingredients brought to your table with the perfect presentation is worth every penny.

What we liked about Akira Back is the variety of dishes it provides. Not only sticking to sushi, sashimi, and other rolls, but also incorporating different dishes into existing ones to create a new experience altogether for you to experience.

Its staff is also commended by the customers we’ve talked to. We noted that the servers and the managers thoroughly accommodates the needs of their customers by frequently checking up on each table.

In addition, Akira Back is also well-known in the restaurant world, with multiple awards and recommendations from well-known publications.

A problem that some customers do have is that the facilities and specific areas, such as the windows of the restaurant, lack attention from the service crew. These parts are poorly kept, affecting the overall dining experience.

Another downside is that some dishes take a lot of time to prepare. With the main dishes being served before the appetizers at times, some customers are left unsatisfied despite the good quality of the food served.

Pros

  • Good quality food
  • Reasonable prices
  • Friendly and accommodating staff
  • Wide variety of choices

Cons

  • Small dining area
  • Slow service on busy days

Masu is one of the most favored restaurants when it comes to providing authentic Japanese sushi at a reasonable price. We think the balance of quality and affordability is why it’s garnered a loyal following throughout the years.

What we liked most about Masu is the quality control and dedication its team has towards handling and preparing the food. Furthermore, the entire process is monitored by the staff, which is why we are confident in their food’s freshness.

Notably, the food is prepared skillfully and presented in the most appealing way despite its simplicity.

We also liked that the prices of the dishes are relatively cheaper for what you’re getting — the food itself is worth spending a lot on!

The food choices of Masu are very diverse, which is great. We especially like the variety of vegetarian choices.

Moreover, the staff of Masu doesn’t fall short. We like how they were able to accommodate customers without hesitation and in a friendly manner as well.

On the downside, the small dining area of the restaurant does seem to be a problem at times, specifically on busy days.

Finally, Masu is also well-known on delivery apps, and this affects the speed of service in the restaurant during peak dining hours.
