Our top choice for the best Greek restaurant in Bangkok is the quaint Rallis in the Bang Kapi district. 

The characteristic of being family-owned (by two British-Greek-Thai brothers) shows a lot in this restaurant, which is right in the middle of a house’s garden, by the way.

We love Rallis’ homey ambiance. We think it adds a lot to the authentic Greek experience (aside from the great food, of course!).

The feeling of having a Sunday brunch with family or friends while eating gyros, tzatziki, and salad in Rallis is gratifying. Customers can order food a la carte or avail of the promotional sets (usually for groups) from the restaurant’s short but straightforward menu.

Albeit in a house, Rallis’ facilities are pretty nice and spotless, like its comfort rooms. The staff (and the owners’ family and pets as well) are lovely.

We agree with its other customers that Rallis is worth your money and time. This restaurant embodies the notion that good food doesn’t need to empty your wallet. 

However, since this is a relatively new and small restaurant, there are still times when there will be errors in your bill. We understand that nobody is perfect, but we hope Rallis improves on this part of its service.

For the one-stop-shop experience of not only Greek but also food from the rest of the Mediterranean, we recommend Mama Dolores. It’s around 30 minutes via car from Central Bangkok.

It shows that Mama Dolores has been serving diners for around a decade. We’ve heard a lot of good and not-so-good things about this restaurant.

One of its greatest assets is its outdoor seating. This is refreshing on a sunny day but problematic on a rainy one.

Another thing we love about Mama Dolores is its menu variety. Indeed, there’s something for everyone here  – either a la carte or a combo meal.

However, there are significant issues we’ve noticed about this restaurant.

First is that the service seems very slow. Some diners we talked to weren’t happy with their long wait for food (some even spent more than an hour waiting); others did not receive their orders.

We know the restaurant gets packed sometimes, but we hope this will not just be due to diners staying longer than expected waiting.

Suppose you manage to get your meal; the next issue is with its quality. Many diners noted that the quality of Mama Dolores’ food is sometimes a hit or a miss, especially when it comes to its bread-based items.

Lastly, the attitude of the waitstaff is also so-so, even rude at times. Some diners even experienced overcharging on their bill.

We hope that Mama Dolores will act to solve these issues.

If you’re into Greek (and Georgian) cuisine that promises authentic ingredients from its region, then you can try AVRA in Watthana. It’s located on the Bangkok Hotel Lotus ground floor in Sukhumvit 33.

AVRA is beautiful; it’s full of Greek-inspired decor and very spacious. However, some customers noted a faint unpleasant smell during their visits, perhaps due to the hotel’s architectural “flaw.”

Its chef and owner, Ms. Anna, promises that the restaurant uses imported ingredients straight from the Mediterranean to give Bangkok diners the most authentic version of Greek and Georgian dishes.

Most customers agree that the food is good. AVRA has the best Moussaka in Bangkok for 2022, according to RestaurantGuru.com, and was the Best Specialty Cuisine Restaurant for the Bangkok Best Restaurant Awards in 2017.

However, others beg to differ. For this small minority, AVRA’s food sometimes tastes a bit bland or is too dry for their liking.

It also doesn’t help that the restaurant gives relatively small servings of its food. In the end, some customers still felt hungry after a costly meal.

The attitude of the waitstaff is excellent but they could still improve on speed. We’re giving them the benefit of the doubt; perhaps it just couldn’t be helped, especially if they’re waiting on multiple tables during the “rush hour” of dinner service.

AVRA only does dinner service for most of the week. Lunch is only available on weekends.

If you can’t go out to visit, you can get your food delivered through its website or by calling its phone line. AVRA has the typical 10% service charge and 7% VAT.

What can be more Greek than naming your restaurant after a famous storyteller from ancient Greece? At first glance, we thought Aesop’s Greek Restaurant must be excellent at telling stories using its food. 

It got a Michelin Plate in 2020 (albeit the least prestigious of the Michelin awards) and is TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice for 2021. We think we know why.

Aesop’s in the Bang Rak district prides itself as a social dining establishment only open for dinner service. It’s well known for having social events like trivia night and DJ music every Friday after 8:30 PM.

One can even partake in the Greek tradition of “Opa!”, which is the breaking of ceramic plates in celebration (a bit like the tradition of breaking glass in Jewish weddings).

The food in Aesop’s is delicious; however, it’s on the more average side. Some might even say that it’s a bit overpriced for its quality.

Another thing that Aesop’s Bangkok could improve on is its service. Some customers observed that the restaurant lacks wait staff — two servers handling six tables at the same time might be too much and could slow down getting food from the kitchen to diners’ plates.

Aesop’s Bangkok has a delivery service. It also charges 7% VAT and a 10% service charge.

We highly suggest you visit this restaurant with friends and family for the best experience.

If you want to eat at a Greek restaurant that’s somewhat a hidden gem, then you should visit Seven Spoons. It’s a nondescript restaurant located a few blocks from the Ministry of Transport in Pom Prap Sattru Phai.

Seven Spoons’ interiors are very typical yet classy. It doesn’t look like a Greek restaurant to us, and it’s a surprise to know that this restaurant serves foreign cuisine.

The premises and the restrooms are immaculate. It’s a very comfortable place to dine at.

The staff is also friendly, and they speak excellent English. But what caught our attention is the overall experience of dining here.

Seven Spoons’ take on Greek food is delicious, and there are many types of dishes to try. Some customers even say eating here feels like going to a fine dining restaurant for a fraction of the price.

Aside from the standard dinner service, Seven Spoons also has a happy hour from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, where you can get two cocktails or mocktails and get one for free.

However, it’s not advisable to visit this restaurant in a car because it lacks parking space. You can instead ride a bus to the Wat Sommanat Worawihan stop, which is just a few meters from the restaurant.

If you’re a weekend traveller, note that you can only visit Seven Spoons on Saturdays since it has Sundays off.
