Khun Pong Waterfall

Regarded as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand, Khun Pong Waterfall is a must-see if you love nature and areas with a relaxing vibe. The waterfall itself is impressive enough once you see it standing at 60 metres tall.
It’s divided into 4 tiers which you can explore at your own leisure. These different levels of the waterfall result in the enticing flow of water coming from the top-most tier of Khun Pong Waterfall before ending in numerous little springs at the bottom.
Lastly, if you happen to visit during the region’s cold season, you’ll also see one of the most impressive transformations in the area. During this season, the maple leaves start falling down, blanketing the area with a beautiful mahogany colour that you certainly don’t want to miss.

- The waterfall isn’t the only thing you can marvel at here. We recommend walking into the forest nearby to appreciate the fallen leaves and the streams that crisscross the area– perfect if you want to enjoy the area’s relaxing vibe!
Sai Rung Waterfall

Locals call this Sai Rung Waterfall “Pak Weep Falls,” and it’s considered one of the Phang-nga province’s most impressive waterfalls. It’s a tall waterfall measuring 60 metres high with its waters majestically falling down the calm pool below – an ideal spot for your photos!
During the rainy season, you’ll also appreciate how green the surrounding area of Sai Rung Waterfall becomes as the rocks get covered in moss and the plants get thicker. There are also cafes around where you can order a drink while taking in the sights.
If you’d like to feel more refreshed, just take off your footwear and dip into the cool and clear waters of the waterfalls’ pool. It’s something you’ll definitely appreciate especially during the hot summers of the country.

- We recommend that you check out other nearby attractions before or after your visit to the waterfalls. Some of these tourist activities include elephant bathing, bamboo rafting, and ATV riding.
Ton Chong Fa Waterfall

This waterfall is located in the middle of Khao Lak rainforest which means you not only get to enjoy the beauty of its majestic streams but also of the surrounding greenery. Ton Chong Fa Waterfall has 5 levels you can explore!
You can hang out at the ponds of each layer for you to cool down and refresh especially during the hot season. The water will usually only be around knee-high so you can peacefully wade your way as you enjoy the sights of the location.
If you also like wildlife, then you’re in luck as Ton Chong Fa Waterfall is home to some of Thailand’s most unique species, like tapirs and hornbills! Keep an eye peeled for them, or maybe even bring binoculars!
Local tip:
- Ton Chong Fa Waterfall is also home to a popular fish spa where you just dip your feet in the pond and little fishes will come from all over to feast on your feet’s dead cells. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience you shouldn’t miss!
Lampi Waterfall

Located just 30 minutes away from Khao Lak, Lampi Waterfall is actually a cluster of waterfalls surrounded by beautiful mountains and great views of the countryside for you to take in.
It has three levels, with the waterfalls’ main pool located at the bottom. This location makes it easy for you to access, especially since it’s near the car park area.
If you decide to wade or even take a dip in its waters, then prepare to experience how ice-cold the pond is.
But what’s so breathtaking about this spot is how the sun hits the canopy of leaves covering the waterfalls creating a dazzling display of dancing natural lights. Taking a picture while this phenomenon is in full swing will create a unique effect that’s truly memorable
Local tip:
- You can make the most out of your trip to Lampi Waterfalls by doing the walking trail up to the site. It’s around a 2.1-kilometre hike and is something doable regardless of your hiking skill level.
Thai Muang Beach is also just nearby so if you want to go for a quick swim, you can also visit this location after enjoying the views of the waterfalls.
Thi Lor Su Waterfall

Thi Lor Su Waterfall is one of the most diverse waterfall ecosystems you’ll ever experience in Thailand, with its surrounding trees and open spaces. It’s also the highest one you can visit in the country, since it stands at an impressive 250 metres.
You’ll be stunned and mesmerised by how wide this waterfall is as it’s almost double its height (450 metres wide)! Surrounding the area is a great expanse of greenery where you can just kick back and chill as you watch Mother Nature’s beauty around you.
There’s also a campsite where you and your group can set up camp. From here, you can hike around the forest around the site or just take a vehicle to get to the waterfall which is around 15 kilometres away.
Local tip:
- If you’re planning to bring a private vehicle to this location, we recommend driving a 4WD one or at least an auto with high ground clearance.
Some of the roads will be very rough while some will have sand paths which may be difficult for sedans to navigate. As such, a 4WD or an SUV will be better suited when driving in this location.
Pha Charoen Waterfall

If you want to visit one of the most interesting waterfalls you’ll ever see in Thailand, then we highly recommend checking out Pha Charoen Waterfall. It’s a waterfall with almost a hundred levels breaking off into many water streams cascading down its rocky surface.
It all ends in a small waterfall flowing down to a pool where you can lounge around or dip your feet in to feel a bit refreshed while onsite. You can also enjoy the views of Siam Tulip flowers with their bright orange colour adorning the waterfall’s entrance.
Pha Charoen Waterfall is also a thing of beauty with its non-stop water flowing from the top of the mountain, making its way down its limestone crevices. You should have your camera ready to take photos of this amazing-looking waterfall when in Thailand!

- While you’re in the area, you can also check out Nang Kruan Waterfall, a nearby medium-sized waterfall that flows into the forest instead of out in the open like the Pha Charoen Waterfall.
There’s also the Huai Nam Nak Hot Spring that you can try out if you want a relaxing and calming hot bath after exploring the nearby waterfalls.
Pi Tu Gro Waterfall

Also referred to as the “Heart Waterfall,” Pi Tu Gro is an amazing waterfall you need to see if you want to enjoy the fantastic combo of greenery and flowing springs. It’s called the “Heart Waterfall” thanks to its heart-like shape if you view it from a certain angle.
This shape is caused by two streams flowing in different sections of the surrounding forest. If you happen to visit during the rainy season, you’ll be treated to some of the best views in Thailand with green and white-lined limestone surfaces around!
To get to this waterfall, you’ll have to hike around 8 kilometres but we think it’s all worth it. Aside from getting to see one of the best-looking waterfalls in Thailand, the hike to the site will also let you take in the tranquillity and peace of the surrounding woods.
Local tips:
- It’s a must to wear comfortable hiking shoes if you plan to visit Pi Tu Gro.
- You can also support the locals and help the eco-tourism of the area by getting some of your supplies or hiking services from the locals offering their wares in the area.
Ask around and see what equipment and even souvenirs you can obtain from these friendly locals.
Saeng Chan Waterfall

Here’s a social media waterfall that’s worth your time – the Saeng Chan Waterfall! It’s one of those unique waterfall formations that you shouldn’t miss as it has water flowing into a hole right in the middle of a cavern.
This gives it the effect of being in a mysterious location surrounded by the beauty of nature. It’s particularly stunning if the drops of water are hit by the sunlight peeking through the hole as it gives the site an almost sparkling quality to it.
The pond where the Saeng Chan Waterfall is also a spectacle that you need to see for yourself. It’s not good for any swimming or water play since it’s mostly just water mixed with some mud but it has a unique and tantalising colour that will pique your interest.
Local tip:
- Saeng Chan Waterfall is located inside Pha Taem National Park. If you’re planning to bring your own vehicle, then you can move around the park and check out the other nearby attractions in the area.
These include the pre-historic painting of Pha Taem and the nearby waterfall of Tung Na Muang, with its flowing waters going through an impressive drop from a steep limestone wall.
Huai Luang Waterfall

Huai Luang Waterfall, located in Phu Chong Nayoi Park, is the most beautiful and tallest waterfall you’ll ever see in the Northeast region of the country. It’s 45 metres tall and has emerald water and a white sand beach around it which will surely entice you.
If you climb to the topmost level of the waterfall, you can proceed to the area’s viewpoint and take photos of the breathtaking natural scenery all around you. This is also the perfect spot for you to wait it out to do some bird watching.
Once you want to go back down, you just need to follow the stairs with 272 steps leading to the waterfall’s main pond below. While walking down these stairs, you can look below to admire the emerald-green waters of your unique vantage point.
Local tip:
- While you can bring your own snacks and bottled water with you during your trip to this waterfall, you can actually just try out the restaurants near the entrance to the waterfalls.
These restaurants mostly serve local fare without breaking the bank– perfect if you and your group want a hearty Thai meal!
Soi Sawan Waterfall

This gem of a waterfall is located near the Mekong River (travel guide to Mekong) and is considered one of the most scenic waterfalls in all of Thailand. The best part about it is that you can take your time enjoying the scenery as the area isn’t very touristy.
The waterfall itself isn’t very steep and, in fact, can be described as just “flowing.” But this isn’t to say that it’s not that exciting as you’ll see some very interesting rock formations because of this – mini pools, cliffs, and natural jacuzzis!
From the parking lot, you can walk to the topmost level of the waterfall where you can take photos and selfies. Once you’re done taking in the beauty of the area, you can head down to the second level to get a different viewpoint of the surroundings.
Local tip:
- You can walk up the canyon where you’ll see a number of rock formations, stunning views, and some pools of water deep enough to dive and swim in. Here, you can dive and swim in the cool refreshing waters of Soi Sawan.
Just be careful though, and be sure to check the depth of the pool you want to dive in first! You don’t want to dive headfirst only to discover that the pools are too shallow for that big jump.
Mae Ya Waterfall

Located in Doi Inthanon National Park (Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai), Mae Ya Waterfall is one of the most stunning bodies of water you’ll ever see in the region. Aside from being massive thanks to it being 200 metres tall, it also has a 30-storied cliff that will surely amaze you.
The waters rushing down this multi-tiered wonder are amazing to look at and we can’t blame you if you suddenly feel the urge to take a video! There are some spots along the cliff that you can approach where you’ll feel the gentle splash of the water on your face.
After enjoying the waterfall and the surrounding greenery, you can also drop by some of the nearby villages to take photos and interact with the locals. You can watch them as they go about their daily lives if you want to immerse yourself further in the local culture.
Local tip:
- Mae Ya Waterfall in Doi Inthanon Park can be quite difficult to reach via public transport. Hence, we recommend that you either go via personal car or via taxi.
Don’t forget to wear good hiking shoes as well as the cliffs here can be quite slippery. A good pair of shoes with a good grip can help keep your balance as you navigate the waterfalls and the other areas of the site.
Wachirathan Waterfall

Here’s another waterfall located in Doi Inthanon National Park (Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai) that you need to visit when in Thailand – Wachirathan Waterfall!
This is one powerful waterfall and you’ll know this if you pass near the bottom of the waterfall and get sprayed with its gushing water. It’s also pretty tall, measuring around 80 metres, with enough width to cover an entire segment of limestone within the park!
As you make your way to the summit of Doi Inthanon Mountain, you can enjoy the rural and countryside appeal of the area. You’ll see thick trees and bushes as you hike toward the top and discover spots where you can take pictures of the great views.
Local tip:
- Since this waterfall is easily accessible, we recommend visiting the other sites near the area. You can check out the nature trails offered by Doi Inthanon Park and visit the Twin Pagoda Temples as well.
You can also visit the Maeklong Elephant Conservation Community, an ethical elephant sanctuary that will let you feed, bathe, and interact with these majestic beasts.
Elephant rides aren’t allowed here but you’ll learn a lot about the life of these gentle giants through the sanctuary’s staff.
