Pros
- Reputable and award-winning hospital
- JCI-certified Hepatitis B treatment
- Great list of GI procedures available
- Has doctors focused on liver and motility issues
- Excellent doctors and staff
Cons
- Quite expensive
Vejthani Hospital in Bang Kapi district has been in business since 1994 (2537 B.E.). It’s the Healthcare Asia Awards’ winner for the Thai Hospital of the Year in 2022 (2565 B.E.).
The best thing about Vejthani Hospital is that its dedicated Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases has its Hepatitis B treatment awarded with a JCI Clinical Care Program Certification.
This means that the procedure is at par with the best international standards.
This award-winning hospital also takes pride in its various gastroenterology procedures available for patients.
One can get GI wireless capsule endoscopy (aside from the standard type), intragastric balloon surgery for weight loss, laparoscopic surgery, and various vaccinations for digestive and liver diseases.
We also love that the doctors here are very experienced and professional. The hospital staff are as amiable and kind as well.
The most notable Vejthani gastroenterologist on our watch is Dr. Sasipim Jamikorn.
With over 15 years of medical experience in treating diseases, especially that of the liver and GI tract motility, she’s one of the most in-demand GI doctors in the country.
However, we’re thankful that she has daily clinic hours in Vejthani Hospital despite being highly sought-after.
However, given this hospital’s stellar reputation, we’re not surprised that the fees here can be quite higher than those of its competitors. Nevertheless, we believe the price is commensurate with the quality of care patients receive here.
All in all, Vejthani Hospital is a modern medical facility that provides excellent care for gastroenterology patients in Bangkok. We recommend you check it out if you need medical help.

Pros
- Over 120 years of service
- Dedicated gastroenterology department
- Quick and excellent medical service
- Modern interiors
- Great for advanced endoscopy procedures
Cons
- Quite expensive rates
- English-speaking customer line needs improvement
Bangkok’s BNH Hospital started as a nursing home in the late 1890s under British rule. It became a full-fledged hospital in 1898 (2441 B.E.) and was named Bangkok Nursing Home Hospital — thus, where the abbreviation “BNH” came from.
BNH has a dedicated Digestive Medical Care department. It has a current roster of seven seasoned medical specialists and top modern equipment that can diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases.
One of the most notable in this group is Dr. Sayam Thaiudom, who holds clinic hours in BNH six days a week.
We’re amazed by his over 22 years of experience in the field. He has even honed his skills in advanced endoscopy in the United States and Japan.
Our respondents generally agree that the services of BNH’s gastroenterology department are prompt and excellent. One notable respondent’s review even compared the BNH doctors and staff to a NASCAR crew!
Moreover, the building and interiors of BNH Hospital are also top-notch. The interiors of the eight-storey hospital are modern yet classy — definitely a pleasant sight to behold for patients recovering from illnesses.
However, it’s no surprise that this excellent service comes with a heftier price tag than other hospitals. But rest assured that what you’ll pay equals the quality of care you’ll receive and the hospital’s excellent upkeep.
If you’re a foreigner, just have more patience when calling this hospital. Although there is an English-speaking phone line, some say the English-language skills of its customer service has still a lot to improve.

Pros
- Credible hospital
- Has dedicated GI and Liver Center
- Has comprehensive list of GI procedures
- State-of-the-art equipment and facilities
- Excellent doctors and staff
Cons
- Often has long patient lines
- Patient registration can be complicated
It’s no surprise to find one of the country’s top medical providers, Bangkok Hospital, in the list of the best hospitals for gastroenterology in Bangkok. This hospital in the Huai Khwang district was established in 1972 (2515 B.E.).
Bangkok Hospital has a GI and Liver Center that has a mission to diagnose and treat gastroenterology and liver diseases.
We like that its list of procedures and services for GI conditions is quite comprehensive. It even includes laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, and radiology treatments.
The medical facilities and equipment are top-of-the-line. Doctors here are also great at what they do, including our pick, Prof. Dr. Varocha Mahachai.
Dr. Mahachai has over 45 years of experience in gastroenterology. Throughout her extensive career, she’s worked with patients in Thailand and the US, easily making us consider her an expert in the field.
Do note that she’s quite a busy doctor. Because she’s also a Director of the Digestive Wellness Clinic and the H.pylori Research Center, she only holds clinic duty at BNH two days a week.
No matter how great a hospital’s service is, there are still some areas that need improvement.
Some of our respondents noted that the registration process in this hospital can be pretty complicated at times. This is a bit concerning since the additional stress this can give patients can be detrimental to their overall well-being.
Nevertheless, we understand that the best hospitals are often swamped with long lines of patients waiting to receive the best medical care. Medical staff will get tired at the end of the day too, so these negative reports could be just on a case-to-case basis.
In the end, we still maintain that Bangkok Hospital is one of the best places you can go to for your gastrointestinal problems.

Pros

- Has services for gallbladder, colon, and pancreas
- Professional doctors and staff
- Personnel well-versed in English
- Offers package deals
Cons
- Pretty young hospital
Bangpakok 9 International Hospital in the Chom Thong district might be pretty young (it started operations only in 2003 (2546 B.E.), but it’s already making its way into being one of the top hospitals in Thailand.
This medical care facility has its own Gastrointestinal and Liver Center, with great doctors like Dr. Theeratus Jongboonyanuparp.
He’s an expert in upper GI tract endoscopy and stent insertion in the pancreas. We highly suggest you visit him for pancreatic conditions, given his over 20 years of experience in gastroenterology.
What we like best about Bangpakok 9 Hospital’s gastroenterology centre is that its services focus not only on the liver and stomach but also on the gallbladder, intestinal, and pancreatic issues.
There are also surgical and non-surgical procedures available as options to patients.
Its testing equipment is also modern and top-of-the-line to help the centre’s excellent doctors diagnose GI and liver diseases. Its hospital staff are very professional and have an excellent grasp of English.
Suppose you’re feeling sick or just want a routine check of your GI system. In that case, you could avail of Bangpakok 9’s gastroscopy and colonoscopy packages.
These deals below THB 40,000 are great since health is wealth, and it’s best to catch ailments in their initial stages.
Moreover, some of our respondents consider the fees here relatively lower than other famous Bangkok hospitals, but for the same service quality.
Ultimately, we recommend Bangpakok 9 International Hospital for gastroenterology services and treatment.

Pros
- Operating for over 120 years
- Affordable pricing
- Run in the Catholic spirit
- Has specialised Gastrointestinal Hepatic Center
- State-of-the-art equipment
- Great doctors, especially for bowel-related conditions
- No long lines for consults
- Friendly staff
Cons
- Risk on getting unnecessary tests
- Out-patient clinic ends quite early on weekends
Saint-Louis Hospital (SLH) in Bangkok’s Sathorn district is one of the country’s oldest hospitals, established in 1898 (2441 B.E.). This non-profit private hospital is run by the Roman Catholic Sisters of Saint-Paul de Chartres.
SLH has a specialised Gastrointestinal Hepatic Center. It has state-of-the-art equipment and specialist doctors, ready to serve patients for very affordable pricing.
You can get tested for gastrointestinal and liver diseases like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hepatitis, or H.pylori infections with the hospital’s different available procedures. These include colonoscopy, gastroscopy, and urea breath test.
What our respondents like the best about SLH’s gastro department services is that there are always specialist doctors available for consults. Patients won’t need to wait short lines or, worse, reschedule their visits here.
Suppose you’re looking for a doctor who specialises in diseases of the bowel. In that case, we highly suggest consulting with Dr. Kamphol Rojjanarattanangkool here in SLH.
With his over 18 years of medical expertise, we can rest assured that our bowels are in good hands.
Another notable pro for SLH is that its staff are charming and approachable. We love this compassionate and empathic treatment that’s very helpful for ailing people.
On the flip side, we’ve noted that some patients complained about undergoing unnecessary tests for their conditions. We hope these are isolated cases since each illness and its prognosis vary from patient to patient.
The outpatient clinic also closes on the weekends quite early for us: 4 PM. Overall, we still highly recommend Saint Louis Hospital for people with gastroenterology issues.
