Hair & Stache Barbershop is one of the best barbershops in Bangkok. It’s on the second floor of the People Park Community Mall in Suan Luang District.

This barbershop is considered the best in Bangkok due to several factors.

First and foremost is its service. Thanks to the friendly owner and expert barbers Dew and Aof, most customers consider their services excellent.

Although they look pretty young, these barbers are experts in their own right. They always look sharp and dashing with their uniforms — very professional.

They also have great personalities and speak English well, making them effective conversationalists. The barbershop itself looks very appealing with a vintage aesthetic.

These barbers have an eye for determining the best type of haircut for a person’s face shape, regardless if they’re foreign or Thai. You’re sure to get the perfect fade or shave from here.

Hair & Stache Barbershop is also very good for cutting kids’ hair. Its barbers know how to handle these tots with a friendly demeanor that will not scare them.

Hair cutting and shaving tools here are always sanitized. It also sells hair styling products, which are considered superior by most customers.

Lastly, customers love this shop because of its pricing. A regular haircut in Hair & Stache costs THB 700.

Some even say its services paired with fair pricing is better than barbershops located in posh areas of Bangkok.

The only thing we don’t like about this shop is that it opens late in the morning. However, this isn’t entirely the barbershop’s fault, for we know it’s merely operating under the mall’s hours.

You may book an appointment at Hair & Stache through its Facebook page and Line account or by calling.

Crossroads Barber Shop has two branches in Bangkok, one in Sathorn and another in Bangna. We will look at their Saturn (Main) branch for this review.

This barbershop is a very quaint branch. It’s pretty small for our liking, but between its tall windows and killer playlist, we can easily imagine ourselves going back again and again for haircuts in this barbershop.

The shop’s owner, Mr. Winston, and its barbers can speak English well. They are experts in the barbershop industry with some even having over 30 years of experience.

We love that they consider what the clients want with their haircuts; you can quickly describe to the barbers here how you want your hair to look, and they’ll be able to give you the haircut as you want it. They also keep their tools well maintained and sanitized.

We’re a bit sad that Crossroads opens at 10:00 AM (but that might just be for early birds like us).

The pricing of its services is also relatively lower than its competitors; a regular haircut only costs THB 500. It offers a loyalty program that gives discounts and complimentary gifts to its avid customers.

You may book an appointment through its website or via its Facebook page.

Pros

  • Accessible location under MRT station
  • Skilled barbers
  • Great place to get fades
  • Value for money

Cons

  • Shop is a bit cramped
  • Some staff may not be quite good in speaking English
  • Not the best palace to get a shave

9 Limit Cut (9 LMC) Barbershop is inside the mall under the MRT Asok station. It’s a pretty nondescript place, but don’t let this fool you.

If you’re looking for a great place to get a fade, it won’t hurt to try this one out. Many customers love the way the barbers here do their fades.

As we’ve said, 9 LMC might look a bit like an underdog. It’s pretty tiny, cramped even; however, it has this vintage hipster vibe that’s still quite appealing.

Some customers reported having barbers who do not speak English that well. Nevertheless, despite the language barrier, 9LMC’s barbers still do their job well, even for foreigners.

Some past customers also told us that getting shaves in this barbershop is a hit or miss, with some reporting uneven shaves or getting nicked. Therefore, this might not be the best place to get a shave.

These aspects, together with the shop’s fair pricing (only THB 500 for a haircut and THB 700 for a shave), still make this barbershop worthwhile.

Since 9 LMC gets busy, especially on weekends, it’s best to get an appointment. You can reach the store via phone or by messaging its Facebook page.

Pros

  • Well-established barbershop
  • Skilled barbers that can speak English well
  • Offers ear cleaning and perms
  • Provides complimentary refreshments

Cons

  • Walk-ins generally not allowed
  • Some say the shop is overrated

The next entry on our list is one of the most established barbershops in Bangkok. Tew’s Barbershop was established almost 30 years ago in Siam Square.

For this list, we’re reviewing its branch in Ekamai.

Tew’s Ekamai branch also has a vintage barbershop aesthetic. It’s pretty tiny and can only accommodate up to two customers simultaneously.

Like all other barbershops in the area, Tew’s offers the basics like haircuts and shaving. However, it also has special services you can’t find anywhere else, like ear cleaning and perms.

Since Tew’s is considered one of the more premium barbershop brands, it’s not surprising that its fees are much more expensive than average. Some customers say that the quality of its services is worth the price.

Although prior customers think its services are overrated, our opinion is that the overall experience of getting a haircut inTew’s Barbershop is all right.

Walk-ins are generally frowned upon in Tew’s, and customers are highly encouraged to book an appointment before going into the shop. We think this is fair and square since Tew’s barbers allot about an hour for each customer for optimum service.

The barbers speak good English, so it would not be a problem communicating what hairstyle you want, even if you’re a foreigner. They also serve complimentary refreshments, like bottled water, for their customers.

You may book an appointment using the contact page on the shop’s official website or send a chat through Facebook Messenger.

Pros

  • Aesthetically pleasing shop
  • Serves whisky or coffee to patrons
  • Great service if you’re in luck

Cons

  • Tricky to locate
  • Expensive
  • Offers only the basics
  • Inconsistent service quality
  • Shampooing is not complimentary on haircuts

The last item on our list is the Black Amber Barbershop in Watthana. It’s easily considered one of the more premium options and is the most expensive one we’ve tried.

The barbershop itself looks very nice with a speakeasy aesthetic. It offers complimentary whiskey or iced coffee to its customers.

However, we had difficulty finding the barbershop because of its incomplete online address. Good thing we have GPS, and our taxi driver was very willing to help us find the place in a small alley sandwiched between Thonglor Sois 5 and 7.

Black Amber only offers haircuts, styling, and shampooing services. It’s the minimum requirement for barbershops, and we’re disappointed it isn’t offering any other services.

You can have a regular haircut, which costs THB 700, or a premium haircut from its senior hairstylist, which costs THB 900. Shampooing the hair is not included in the haircut package, so you’ll have to pay an additional THB 100 if you want to have your hair shampooed.

Some customers love the quality of their haircuts, especially those done by the senior stylist. However, we have also noted many complaints about the senior hairstylist, who does not seem to consider clients’ requests.

A couple of people we’ve interviewed told us they felt that the senior stylist who handled their hair did not even consider their face shape, hairline, or hair type.

Others felt there was a glaring inconsistency in Black Amber’s service, with some customers having a great first haircut and then getting disappointing results on their subsequent visits. We hope that Black Amber will be able to solve this criticism.

If you’re still keen on trying out one of the more premium barbershops in Bangkok, then you may give Black Amber a call or directly message its Facebook page for an appointment.
