Our Top 6 Animal Hospitals in Bangkok

Clinic Reputation

A top animal hospital for us is one with proven expertise. We’ve only included the most credible veterinary hospitals in Bangkok on this list.

Services Offered

We’d love to see a veterinary hospital with the most comprehensive line of specialities. This state gives us better hope for getting the best treatment for our furry friends.

Customer Service Quality

A great animal medical facility gives its client excellent service on all transaction levels: from reception to queuing and up until the payment of dues.

Rates

We understand that treating animals is more challenging than it is with humans because our pets can’t just talk and say what they feel. However, we’d love an animal hospital that provides medical attention at the most reasonable price possible.

Pros

  • Focus on modern technology
  • Caters to exotic animals
  • Great facilities

Cons

  • Quite expensive
  • Limited speciality services
  • Staff demeanour can still improve

Vet 4 Animal Clinic’s main branch in Prachachuen has been caring for Bangkok’s domestic pets since 1986. Its goal is to provide the best veterinary treatment using modern tools and technology.

True to this mission, the hospital facilities are also spotless, large, and current. Vet 4 even renovated its two buildings in 2022.

We’re glad that Vet 4 offers a long list of veterinary services. You can bring in your dog, cat, or exotic pet (like the long-haired Gatsby, other types of mice, and rabbits, to name a few).

We like that it has a 24-hour emergency department and can do procedures like pet neutering, orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation (this seems to be Vet 4’s speciality), general checkups, vaccinations, etc.

However, if you’re looking for animal hospitals that cater to more complicated veterinary conditions, we suggest you look for another facility.

To add, given this modern approach to veterinary medicine, it’s not surprising to know that Vet 4’s service rates are pretty expensive. Nevertheless, many pet owners have come home satisfied with how this animal clinic handled their pets’ conditions.

One notable aspect that Vet 4 could improve is its staff’s demeanour. Pet owners agree that some staff could use more empathy and understanding, especially during off-hour emergencies.

Pros

  • Over ten branches nationwide
  • Very comprehensive list of medical services
  • Pet lifestyle services

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Alleged decline in service quality

You can consider Thonglor Animal Hospital as one of the largest veterinary service providers in Thailand. It has over ten branches in the country since it started in 1994—over 25 years ago.

Its headquarters in Rama 9 opened in 2017 and has become one of Bangkok’s best animal hospitals. It operates 24 hours under internationally-recognized standards like ISO 9001:2015.

The best thing about the Thonglor Animal Hospital is its two units. First is the Pet Hospital, which consists of the medical aspect of its services; next is Pet Care, the pet lifestyle hub that offers grooming, accommodation, and travel.

We love that this vet also has one of the most comprehensive lists of specialities and services (with endocrinology, neurology, and cancer clinics to boot!). It isn’t surprising, though, given the size of the business.

With these specialities, we’re glad to rest assured that transferring between hospitals will be the last thing on our minds if our beloved pets would get into complicated conditions.

However, despite their glitz and glamour, we noted reports that the quality of service seems to be suffering lately. We think Thonglor Animal Hospital can still offer more for the price they charge for services.

Although many of our respondents gave positive reviews on its services, there is also a looming minority that longs for a more attentive and compassionate service, similar to when the hospital was still young.

Pros

  • Pioneer animal hospital
  • Over 50 years of expertise
  • Does house calls
  • Attentive staff speak excellent English
  • Has pet relocation service
  • Fair pricing

Cons

  • Interiors need updating

If we’re talking about the pioneer private animal hospital in Bangkok, then Sukhumvit Veterinarians fills the bill. It was established in 1966 and has long stood the test of time to ensure Thai pets are in optimal health.

What we like most about Sukhumvit Veterinarians is that it consistently proves its long years of experience; it doesn’t only accommodate dogs and cats but also smaller pets like dwarf hamsters.

Furthermore, the facility also has a pet supplies store complete with pet food, toys, and accessories.

Sukhumvit Veterinarians also has a pet hotel service, but what we think sets them apart from other vets is the pet relocation consultation service. They are reliable in helping owners get their pets in and out of the country.

Another aspect we love is its comprehensive veterinary specialities and services, which range from general veterinary and dental to surgical.

An added plus is that these services are fairly priced. Customers have also mentioned that the vets here can be counted on to charge fairly and not recommend unnecessary procedures.

The vet staff can also do house calls for end-of-life pets or those who simply cannot visit Sukhumvit Veterinarians.

There aren’t usually long lines in its pet clinic, so pets receive the utmost care and attentiveness. The staff also speak excellent English, so farangs don’t need to worry about vet instructions getting lost in translation.

Going in for a consult with your beloved pet is a pleasant experience, but perhaps the facility needs a bit of an update.

The interiors are well-maintained, clean and even homey, but pardon our tastes; the murals on its walls make a visit feel like walking back into the early to late ‘00s.

Pros

  • A public university hospital
  • Top-notch expertise
  • 24-hour Emergency service
  • Fair, economical pricing

Cons

  • Quite old building
  • Unresponsive hotline
  • Long queues
  • Constantly-changing vets and staff

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Kasetsart University (KU) operates four teaching hospitals, including its first branch, Bang Khen. This branch has been around since the mid-1980s and provides excellent veterinary service to the public.

As this is a teaching hospital, it’s already expected for KU Animal Hospital to serve many veterinary medicine branches with the most reasonable fees.

Furthermore, the doctors here work at par with the best standards in veterinary medicine, so your pets are in good hands.

We’re also delighted that the Animal Hospital at KU has a 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care Unit ready to help in pet emergencies. Its clinics also operate until 8:00 PM, which is convenient for pet owners on a schedule.

The hospital facilities are old but just okay; however, a significant caveat of being a public hospital is that long lines usually swamp the pet clinics of KU.

On the downside, we had a hard time queuing. It was difficult to get through their hotline to book an appointment, so we had to walk in instead and line up.

Additionally, some pet owners noted that they had to wait more than six hours just for their pet’s consultation.

Another drawback of being a public teaching hospital is that the staff in this facility consistently change. It isn’t surprising, given that most vets here are working just until they graduate, but it can hurt the level of empathy and care pets receive.

Also, we think that the assisting staff could improve their attitude in facing clients to improve the overall experience of both the pets and their owners.

Pros

  • Located at Thailand’s #1 university
  • Expert veterinary service
  • Offers services for all VetMed branches
  • Fair, economical pricing

Cons

  • Clinics get crowded
  • Unresponsive to phone calls
  • Lack of staff
  • Closes too early every first Friday of month

Chulalongkorn University is not only well-known for being the #1 university in Thailand but also for having one of the best animal hospitals in Bangkok. Its Small Animal Teaching Hospital can care for your ailing dog, cat, or exotic animal.

Established in 1953, this animal hospital has ensured Thai pets are at their healthiest for over 65 years. The fact that it has clinics and specialists for all branches of veterinary medicine makes it an excellent choice.

We’re genuinely grateful for a facility like this that can give expert care to our pets for low pricing. However, there are some things that we don’t like that much about this animal hospital.

First is the fact that it’s always crowded. We understand, though, that this comes with low prices and high service quality from people who truly care about animals.

Next is about its customer service. No one answered when we called its hotline multiple times, and there was a noticeable lack of staff at the reception counter during our visit; if there were any, we got word that they were not well-versed in English.

Lastly, we’re a bit bummed that the animal clinic closes at 11:00 AM every first Friday of the month. But we guess our vet heroes need extended rest once in a while, so it’s okay.

Pros

  • Licensed and experienced professionals employed
  • Free parking available
  • Modern tools and techniques utilized

Cons

  • Rates of their services aren’t readily available

Kachavet Animal Hospital is a facility that offers clients modern and comprehensive pet care and treatment services when it comes to resolving various animal healthcare services such as orthopaedic care, dermatology, and diagnostic radiology services among others.

With over 20 years of experience in the field, they have since then been providing clients with holistic and modernized pet care treatments that are personalized to the specific needs of the animal for better recovery.

Aside from this, we like that they readily employ healthcare professionals from various medical fields to ensure that all services are well-covered at all times and that clients can have access to better options for their pets.

Note though that rates of their services aren’t readily available and interested clients may need to inquire further for more information on this.

Overall, with their well-experienced and trained healthcare professionals, a wide array of facilities and treatments accommodated, and communicative customer service, we highly recommend interested clients to check them out.
